VKSND Cấp cao TP.HCM lý giải lý do việc bị cáo Đỗ Thị Nhàn không bị đề nghị án tử hình

Tại phiên tòa, VKSND ghi nhận bị cáo Lan đã thành khẩn khai báo và cam kết khắc phục toàn bộ hậu quả, đồng thời nộp 3.500 tỉ đồng và kê biên 658 mã tài sản chưa thế chấp. Mặc dù có tình tiết giảm nhẹ như đóng góp xã hội và thiện nguyện, VKSND cho rằng hậu quả nghiêm trọng và mức độ phạm tội của bị cáo không đủ căn cứ để giảm án, nên giữ nguyên mức án tử hình về tội "Tham ô tài sản."
Về bị cáo Đỗ Thị Nhàn
Bị cáo Đỗ Thị Nhàn, cựu Cục trưởng Cục Thanh tra giám sát Ngân hàng Nhà nước, bị cáo buộc che giấu kết quả thanh tra để SCB tránh bị kiểm soát đặc biệt, từ đó giúp Trương Mỹ Lan và đồng phạm chiếm đoạt khoản tiền lớn, gây thiệt hại nghiêm trọng. Tuy hành vi của bị cáo có thể dẫn đến án tử hình, nhưng do đã nộp lại toàn bộ số tiền nhận hối lộ, đây được xem là tình tiết giảm nhẹ quan trọng. Vì vậy, mức án chung thân mà tòa sơ thẩm tuyên cho bị cáo Nhàn được VKSND cho là hợp lý và đúng người, đúng tội.
