On the morning of June 6, 2022, the People's High Court in Ho Chi Minh City re-opened the Court of Appeal "The great case happened at Sadeco". Lawyer Le Nguyen Hoa and Lawyer Tran Van Su participated in the proceedings as the defense for the Defendant Tat Thanh Cang - Former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Mr. Tat Thanh Cang was prosecuted for "Crimes of violations of regulations on management and use of State assets, causing loss and waste"  by the People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City as specified in Article 219 (Criminal Code 2015, amended and supplemented in 2017). At the trial of the first instance, the representative of the People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City exercising the right to prosecute suggested the Trial Council to sentence Mr. Tat Thanh Cang from 12 to 14 years in prison.

From December 27, 2021 to January 8, 2022, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City opened a continuous and public first-instance trial and decided to sentence Mr. Tat Thanh Cang to 10 years in prison.

The Defense and Mr. Tat Thanh Cang produced legal opinions and supporting evidence during the proceedings to establish key points for Mr. Tat Thanh Cang's defense, including:

Because Mr. Tat Thanh Cang is the Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and not the designated person to manage and use the State's property, he is not the criminal subject of the charge of "Crime of violating regulations on management and use of State assets, causing loss and waste;"

There was a fraudulent act in reporting and consulting Mr. Tat Thanh Cang on the policy of issuing shares to strategic shareholders at Sadeco. In order to obtain clearance from the City Party Office for the issuing of shares at Sadeco, subordinates were scammed by fabricating report No. 12A; in particular, this report is untrue and has not been approved by the Sadeco Board of Directors.
